Rents and charges

The annual rents and charges for a plot depend on its size. There is a fixed price per pole for the rent and for the water charge. For tenants over the age of 60 on January 1, there is a discount of 50% of the rent for the first 10 poles rented. There is no discount for the water charge.

Each year at the AGM, the rents and charges for the following year are decided. They are set at such a level as to ensure that the long and short term costs of running the site are properly funded.

The rent year used to run from April 1 to March 31 the next year and rents were collected in early April.

Starting in 2015, the rent year has been changed to the calendar year so it will run from January 1 to December 1. The reason for making the change was so that plots that are given up can be re-let before the start of the growing season.

Rent invoices are sent out towards the end of the year. They are sent by email to those whose email addresses we have. Otherwise, they are sent by post. Methods of payment are shown below.

Your tenancy agreement requires your rent to be paid within 40 days of the start of the financial year, ie by February 10. If unpaid, without good reason, you will be given one month's notice of the termination of your tenancy.
