The society runs a shop as a service for the benefit and convenience of the members of the Child’s Hill Allotment Society. It is situated just inside the main entrance to the site from Garth Road.
Its primary rôle is to provide a convenient way for society members to obtain a wide range of horticultural products without the need to carry large and bulky quantities to the site from garden centres, etc. And to buy at prices which in many cases are lower, often considerably, than from outside sources, because of special deals offered to the society by certain suppliers. Click here to see some of the products available from the shop.
The shop is open on Sundays from early February to the end of November at the following times:
February – October 11:00 - 13.30
November: 12:00 – 13.30
Agreements with many of our suppliers let us sell many items at prices below normal shop prices, but only to members of the society. However, non-tenants such as people living in the neighbourhood may, on payment of an annual fee of £1, become gardening members and hence entitled to use the shop. Just call in at the shop when it is open and ask to join.
The shop is managed by Deborah Thompson with the assistance of a band of volunteer members. The rota of shopkeepers may be found here. Additional assistants are always welcome, so please contact Deborah if you would like to help.
